Rumi Forum organized a study trip to Morocco with the mission of exploring social, economic, cultural, security and political issues in Morocco and its wider region from May 6 to 13, 2016.

During the trip, trip participants had an opportunity to meet with civil society organizations, government and educational institutions, journalists and scholars. In Casablanca, visitors met with journalists and had dinner with teachers and administrators from local schools. In Marrakesh, trip participants had an opportunity to meet with university scholars and magazine publishers. In Rabat, the group visited NGOs and the House of Representatives. Study trip to Morocco also included visits to cultural and historic sites in Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fes and Rabat, such as Hassan II Mosque, the Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, Medina (Old City) and Mausoleum of Mohammed V, respectively.

Feedback from participants include:
“Even though we had been to Morocco before, the study trip gave a non-tourist insight to the people and country. The meetings with different organizations is a wonderful opportunity to better understand the country.”

“Vacations are a wonderful way to visit nations and cultures other than my own. But this was a better experience and learning opportunity because of the group dynamics and other interactions. At the same time, we were able to enjoy the sites, sounds, and tastes of Morocco.”
