SUMMARY:Partner Event: Film Screening and Discussion of “Sevap/Mitzvah”
DESCRIPTION:Rumi Forum is proud to join the Jewish Islamic Dialogue Society (JIDS) in presenting a dialogue featuring the film by writer and director Sabina Vajrača\, “Sevap/Mitzvah”  on February 13\, 2024 at Washington Hebrew Congregation. This short film is a moving dramatization of a Bosnian Muslim woman who hid a Jewish family during the Holocaust and then was rescued by Jews during the war in Bosnia 52 years later. It is a story about the power of true friendship\, which is one thing organizations like JIDS and the Rumi Forum have tried so hard to foster – true friendships between Muslims and Jews. \nThis film should provide an excellent springboard for a discussion that can help bring our two communities together during a time when many forces would like to split us apart.
