Rumi Forum’s condemnation of the attack at Port Authority in New York on December 11th, 2017.
We are disturbed to hear the news of the attack on New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal. We stand firmly now, as much as ever against those who desire to strike fear into the heart of our democratic society. We condemn this action in the strongest possible terms against the innocent people of New York. We continue to be committed to our work in eradicating hatred and radicalism that lead to attacks such as this one.
We are thankful for all the women and men of the NYPD who responded swiftly and effectively to the scene of the attack, including the FBI who will be investigating the incident with NY detectives. We are thankful that the terrorist did not achieve his ultimate goal and that the physical injuries related to the incident were minor. Our sincere condolences go out to all of those who were affected by this incident that was meant to scare and divide us. T
“Terrorists won’t win,” said NY Mayor Bill de Blasio, “The choice of New York is always for a reason because we are a beacon to the world. And we actually show that a society of many faiths and many backgrounds can work. The terrorists want to undermine that.” the mayor added.
