The Rumi Forum’s Center for Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue hosted the Luncheon Speaker Series: ‘Interreligious Relations in Qatar and India’ with Dr. Leo D. Lefebure.
The Rumi Forum’s Center for Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue hosted Dr. Lefebure for a luncheon series. Dr. Leo Lefebure discussed his experiences of teaching Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and Bahai students at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Doha, Qatar and the challenges and opportunities of interreligious relations in this context. Dr. Lefebure’s talk also reflected on his trip to southern India in October 2007 and his interactions with various religious leaders there.
Leo D. Lefebure is the Matteo Ricci, S.J., Professor of Theology at Georgetown University and a priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. He is currently teaching at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Doha, Qatar. He is the author of four books, including The Buddha and the Christ and, most recently, Revelation, the Religions, and Violence, which received the Pax Christi U.S.A. 2001 Book Award and which was translated into Indonesian and published in Jakarta. He is a long-time participant in dialogues with Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies, associate editor of Chicago Studies, and editor-at-large for The Christian Century.
