Rumi Forum organized an interfaith iftar with the Fairfax County on May 30th.

Guests were welcomed with live Sufi music performed by Fairfax local musicians. The night started with a small informative speech on the significance of Ramadan by Ibrahim Buyukceleb, Rumi Forum’s Program Director. Following Mr. Buyukceleb speech, Pastor Earl Zimmerman talked about the importance of community interfaith and its essence to peacebuilding. To support Pastor Zimmerman’s hope for interfaith dialogue, our guest speaker Surinder Sachdeva expressed his enthusiasm for not only celebrating the other but also joining them in spirit. Lastly before Iftar, Sachdeva, who comes from a Sikh background, said a Sikh prayer before inviting attendants to eat together as a community.
