On Sunday, October 1st the Rumi Forum and ATFA hosted their Annual Interfaith and Intercultural Ramadan Iftar Dinner in the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown.
The evening’s program included remarks from distinguished guests and a performance of The Whirling Dervishes of Rumi. Novelist and friend of the Rumi Forum, Bridget Bell Webber emceed the evening’s program. Dr. Ali Yurtsever, president of the Rumi Forum, gave the welcoming address to guests and was followed by Imam Yahya Hendi of Georgetown University who gave the key note address.
Imam Hendi stressed the importance of interfaith and intercultural dialogue in his remarks. Other distinguished guests who spoke during the course of the evening were Father Francis Tiso, Seyyid Hossain Nasr and Shawn Murphey. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal and a breath taking performance of The Whirling Dervishes of Rumi.
