Rumi Forum Charlottesville Chapter and American Turkish Friendship Association organized “Peace and Dialogue Dinner” on November 12, 2013 with theme of “Ending Poverty”.
Over 100 participants including faculty from University of Virginia, officials from City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, clergy, educators and others from Charlottesville-Albemarle County community joined to the event. The program started with the welcoming speech of Rasit Telbisoglu, Program Director at Rumi Forum. Peter Kovach, retired Minister-Counselor at Foreign Service of the U.S., was the guest speaker of the night. The keynote speaker of the program was Paul Mahoney, Dean of the School of Law at University of Virginia. The program ended with the final remarks of Dianthe McKeel, Albemarle County School Board Member.
Each year, Peace and Dialogue Dinners brings people of diverse backgrounds together at one table to prove that this is a situation of great richness, with remarkable opportunities for mutual understanding and for creating a society rooted in common values.
